Yoga-related events are currently underway in China. As part of this series of activities, people practicing yoga in the capital, Beijing, to mark International Yoga Day. Notably, a grand yoga event was organized by the WE Yoga Academy at Beijing’s Haidian Park last Saturday, June 27. More than 150 people participated enthusiastically in the outdoor yoga session.

Under the guidance of Yoga Guru Ashish Bahuguna, the founder of WE Yoga Academy, participants performed various yoga Asanas (postures). This spirited outdoor yoga session in Beijing was held with the support of the Indian Embassy. It is evident that the enthusiasm for International Yoga Day is running high in Beijing.

Yoga Guru Ashish Bahuguna conducted and led the session on a beautiful evening here in the famous park. He remarked that enthusiasm for yoga is steadily growing in China, with a large number of people reaping physical and mental health benefits through the practice. He noted that the event was organized with the support and cooperation of the Indian Embassy in Beijing. Yoga instructors Shubham Manori, Grace, and Ting Ting also assisted during the session.

Earlier, 12th International Day of Yoga celebrated in Beijing’s old Indian Embassy premises drawing approximately 1,500 participants of all age groups.
On this occasion Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Doraiswami inaugurated the event, highlighting yoga’s timeless appeal and its role in fostering healthier, more active and balanced living.
Participants of all age groups came together to experience yoga’s benefits for health, harmony and well-being. This Yoga event was held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

During the event, Ambassador Doraiswami honored several yoga gurus, including Mohan Bhandari, Ashish Bahuguna, Hemant, and N.K. Singh.
It is worth noting that Yoga Day is celebrated globally on June 21. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for the observance of International Yoga Day during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014. Subsequently, a resolution to observe this day was passed during a meeting attended by 123 member nations. Following a proposal by the US, 177 countries passed the resolution for International Yoga Day within 90 days.
Thus, International Yoga Day was celebrated across the globe for the first time on June 21, 2015, with a large number of people participating. Since then, millions of yoga enthusiasts have continued to practice yoga on this occasion every year in various countries.
