China often surprises the world with something new, this time it’s a bridge. Infact China has set a new record by building the world’s tallest bridge. While China boasts numerous high-rise bridges, the bridge we are talking about is Huaijiang Grand Canyon Bridge, located in Guizhou Province. The bridge opened to traffic on Sunday, September 29th. According to reports, with the bridge’s completion, crossing the distance between the two canyons will now take just two minutes, compared to the previous more than two hours. As rural revitalization continues in China, this bridge also symbolizes China’s progress in improving infrastructure.

This landmark bridge, rising 625 meters above the Beipan river, is a key project of an expressway connecting the Liuzhi Special District of Liupanshui City with Anlong County. With a 1,420-meter-long main bridge, it forms the backbone of a new expressway that passes through one of China’s most mountainous provinces. The terrain’s geographical complexity previously posed significant difficulties for local residents. But now this area has become a new tourist destination.

It’s worth noting that Guizhou has earned itself a reputation as the province of bridges in China. According to the provincial transportation department, more than 32,000 bridges have been built or are under construction in the province. Furthermore, nearly half of the world’s 100 highest bridges are located in this valley. The Huajiang Bridge is now its most prominent landmark, reflecting both the practical needs and the engineering ambitions of the region.

Construction at such a height severely tested the limits of design and construction. Chinese engineers faced challenging weather, steep cliffs, and winds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. To overcome these challenges, the team used several innovative technologies.
It must be said that China has once again surprised the world by performing a miracle in the form of the tallest bridge.
